Unlock your career potential at our exclusive in-person career event in Midtown Manhattan! Join us for a unique opportunity to connect with industry leaders from Fitch Ratings and gain invaluable career advice. Employees will also offer insight about the basics of budgeting, prioritizing savings, and other important tips to manage your finances. This workshop will be especially useful for students who may have a limited understanding of predominantly U.S. finance concepts like building credit and credit scores. Other topics may include: how to find employment with a visa sponsorship, and understanding U.S. networking norms, both online through platforms like LinkedIn and in face-to-face interactions.

We will also have time during the event to split up into small groups where you’ll have the chance to engage in intimate conversations with working professionals. They’ll offer career advice and answer any questions you may have. The experts from Fitch Ratings come from all different professional backgrounds, so you don’t have to have a finance background to participate.

Join us as we team up with the Prospect Park Alliance to help keep one of Brooklyn’s most beloved green spaces clean and beautiful! We’ll spend the day tackling litter and picking up garbage throughout the park—every helping hand makes a difference, and the more, the merrier. It’s a simple but rewarding way to give back to the local community, enjoy the outdoors, and feel great doing some good.

Escape the city and enjoy a day of hiking in beautiful Pound Ridge!

After a train ride from Grand Central and a short car service to the trailhead, we’ll begin our hike through the scenic trails of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. This 5.5-mile loop features peaceful woodlands, rocky ridges, and sweeping vistas, offering a serene and rewarding outdoor experience. We’ll stop for lunch at one of the park’s best lookout points before making our way back to Katonah to explore the town before returning to NYC.

Please note: This hike is moderately challenging with steady elevation gain, uneven terrain, and some rocky sections. Proper footwear, layered outdoor clothing, and plenty of water are required. Tickets do not include lunch or the roundtrip train ride ($27.00).

Richard Alsop, Partner, AO Shearman. Richard advises corporations and investment banks on a broad variety of capital markets work, including IPOs, convertible bonds and investment grade and high-yield bond transactions. He is a contributor and editor for the firm’s annual Corporate Governance Survey. From 2003 through 2008, Richard was Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Corporate Law at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., where he advised executive management and the board of directors on major corporate transactions, corporate governance, executive compensation and other matters. From 1994 through 2003, he held other senior roles in the legal department of Merrill Lynch, including Equity Capital Markets Counsel, Investment Banking General Counsel and Debt Markets
General Counsel.

Shivaram Rajgopal, Roy Bernard Kester and T.W. Byrnes Professor of Accounting and Auditing; Chair of the Accounting Division, Columbia University. In addition to his current role at Columbia University, Professor Rajgopal has also been a faculty member at the Duke University, Emory University and the University of Washington. Professor Rajgopal’s research interests span financial reporting, earnings quality, fraud, executive compensation and corporate culture. His research is frequently cited in the popular press, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Bloomberg, Fortune, Forbes, Financial Times, Business Week, and the Economist. He teaches fundamental analysis of financial statements for investors, managers and entrepreneurs and a PhD seminar on accounting regulation.

To apply, please submit an essay here of no more than 900 words, answering the question: “What is the number one corporate governance issue in your home country and how would you address it?” There is a first-place prize of $750, and a second-place prize of $500, made possible by the Harold S. Geneen Charitable Trust. Please note, you MUST attend at least one session to qualify for the scholarship.

Join us for a unique embossing workshop led by acclaimed visual artist Gabrielle Vitollo at their studio in the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal. The event will also include an artist talk and a tour of the metal shop in which Gabrielle creates their work. Gabrielle’s artwork explores the intersections of painting, sculpture, and printmaking, blending themes of the body, environment, and technology.

Gabrielle Vitollo, a professor at the Pratt Institute and Montclair State University, will share insights into their artistic journey — from their experiences as a Fulbright and DAAD Scholar to their innovative approach to combining sculpture and painting. Engage in conversation as you gain creative insights and connect with fellow participants. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn embossing techniques to transform ordinary metal cans into striking decorative pieces!
