There will also be opportunities to ask questions related to your career goals and aspirations.

In-Person Mock Interviews with Amazon in Manhattan

Whether or not you attend any of the virtual sessions happening in August, we’re organizing TWO in-person events with Amazon this September for an opportunity to connect with employees from this multi-national company, but this time, in-person!

 

This interactive in-person workshop taking place at Amazon’s office in Manhattan (exact office to be confirmed) is designed to help students build confidence in the job search process. You’ll participate in small group mock interviews with experienced professionals who will offer personalized feedback on your responses, communication style, and overall presentation.

 

Additionally, you’ll have the chance to participate in more focused conversations, where you can ask questions and gain insights tailored to your career interests. Whether you’re exploring opportunities in business, e-commerce, technology, entertainment, logistics, or another industry, this event will provide you with practical tools to stand out in a competitive job market. This also a great opportunity to see Amazon’s offices and (maybe) your future place of work!

Hike Wooster Mountain: Visit to Ridgefield, CT

Escape the city for a full day of hiking and discovery in the serene forests of Wooster Mountain State Park and Bennett’s Pond! This scenic trail network in Ridgefield, Connecticut features peaceful woodlands, rocky ridgelines, and tranquil pond views—perfect for nature lovers looking to unplug and recharge. After the hike, we’ll head into the charming town of Ridgefield to relax, grab a bite to eat, and explore its historic Main Street filled with cafes, boutiques, and small-town charm.

 

Please note: This is a moderately challenging hike with wooded terrain, uneven ground, and some rocky ascents. The trailhead is approximately a 10-minute drive from the train station; transportation to the trailhead will be arranged for participants. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear, dress in layers, and bring plenty of water. Tickets do not include lunch or the roundtrip train fare ($27.50), so please plan accordingly.

East River Ferry Tour – Downtown Manhattan to the Bronx

Join us for a one-of-a-kind ferry tour across the city, led by a distinguished local expert who will bring NYC’s waterfront skyline to life. We’ll travel from Wall Street in Manhattan to Throgs Neck in the Bronx, uncovering fascinating stories and little-known facts about the buildings and bridges we pass. As the sun sets, you’ll have time to snap stunning photos and take in the city from a whole new perspective. Whether you’re new to NYC or think you’ve seen it all, this ride will show you a side of the city you won’t forget.

 

Our guide, William Singer, AIA, is a Code and Zoning Specialist for The City of New York Department of Buildings Development and Technical Affairs. He is an expert in the design and construction of large-scale public facilities. His major projects have included justice centers, transportation hubs, and cultural centers. Before joining the Department of Buildings he was a partner at Gruzen Samton, a NYC & Virginia-based architecture, planning, interior design and systems engineering firm. A Fulbright fellow (Slovenia, 1993-94), he holds a Master of Architecture degree from the School of Design at North Carolina State University, as well as a Master of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2004, Singer received a City of New York Arts Commission Excellence in Design for the renovation design of El Museo Del Barrio.

Sailing on the Hudson River with Clearwater

Join us for a day on the water, where we will take a 3-hour educational sail down the Hudson River and discover the history of America’s first river and its largest city.

 

Our group will be aboard the Hudson River Sloop, a historic sailboat. While sailing down the Hudson, you will have the opportunity to help raise sails, learn traditional river songs, go down below decks, and learn about life in the Hudson.

 

I hope you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to meet with fellow students, scholars, and other exchange participants, and experience some of the natural beauty NYC has to offer to kick off the start of summer!

Led by Aman, a coach at Ultraspeaking, this workshop is especially helpful for those who use English as a second language and want to feel more natural and spontaneous when they speak.
