Fulbright Volunteer Opportunity: Bag Books for Kids in Need with Brooklyn Book Bodega

February 27 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Free

Do you know why reading is so important for kids? It helps them expand their vocabulary, perform better academically, and allows their imagination to run wild. Also, children who do not read on grade-level by the end of third grade are four times less likely to graduate high school on time.

Although low-income families have, on average, four children's books in their homes, a team of researchers concluded that nearly two-thirds, or 61% of the low-income families, owned no books for their children.

That's where Brooklyn Book Bodega comes in. The mission of Brooklyn Book Bodega is to increase the number of 100+ book homes for kids 0-18 in New York City. At this event, you will volunteer to distribute Bodega's books to the community. A great opportunity to inspire children to develop a passion for reading and connect with other Fulbrighters!

To rsvp, please make sure you create a Fulbright Scholar Account here and then return to this event page to RSVP once you are logged in. You will not be able to register if you are not logged into your Fulbright Scholar account.

This Fulbright Enrichment activity is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by the Institute of International Education (IIE), and One To World.
