Matteo Gatti
Matteo Gatti is a Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School. He teaches business organizations, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. Professor Gatti received his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Milan, his LL.M. from Harvard Law School and his S.J.D. in Corporate Law from the University of Brescia. He practiced on corporate and M&A matters at Cleary Gottlieb in Rome, Milan, Moscow, and New York. Prior to joining the Rutgers faculty in 2012, he was in-house counsel at cable TV company Scripps Networks. His works have been cited in influential corporate, securities, and M&A treatises in the U.S. and Europe, legal and financial journals in the U.S. and around the globe.

Lona Nallengara
Lona Nallengara is the Global Head of the Corporate Business Unit and a partner in the Capital Markets practice at Shearman & Sterling. He focuses on advising companies, financial institutions and their boards on corporate governance, disclosure, and securities law compliance matters and on the financial regulatory process. He also advises companies and financial institutions on all aspects of public and private offerings of equity, equity-linked, high yield debt and investment grade debt securities. Prior experience includes senior positions at the Securities and Exchange Commission for over four years. From 2013 to 2015, he served as Chief of Staff to SEC Chair Mary Jo White, where he was the top advisor to the Chair on all issues, including policy development, rulemaking, strategy and management.

Attending this event is also an opportunity to qualify for a scholarship of up to $750!

To apply, please submit an essay here of no more than 900 words, answering the question: "What is the number one corporate governance issue in your home country and how would you address it?" There is a first-place prize of $750, and a second-place prize of $500, made possible by the Harold S. Geneen Charitable Trust. Please note, you MUST attend at least one session to qualify for the scholarship.

 

The application for the scholarship deadline is: Monday, April 10th at 10:00AM EST
